Welcome to the
Western States
Folklore Society

Committed to the study of regional, national, and international folklore in all its aspects.

The Society’s principal publication, Western Folklore, has been published annually since 1942 and is one of the leading scholarly folklore journals in the United States.

Anyone interested in folklore and folklife is invited to become a member of Western States Folklore Society. Faculty, students, staff, independent folklorists, international scholars – all are welcome to join WSFS.

Every April, the Society holds an Annual Meeting to bring together professional and amateur folklorists to connect, present papers, and openly discuss various aspects of folklore.

Western Folklore welcomes manuscript submissions from all fields as long as they deal substantively with folklore or folklife. These submissions are reviewed and may be published in the quarterly Western Folklore Journal.
